A Word from the Coordinator

By: Anne Bourgault

I have been the Office Coordinator for two and a half months and have not had much free time. Good! It means that things are moving! I have familiarized myself with the Association and now know our team better. They are all so great! It is a good mix of younger and older members with such good energy and flow of ideas, each idea better than the last.

The announcement that the Bulletin will no longer by financed by the Department disappointed us, but also gave us a new purpose. As we do not have the financial capacity to publish the Bulletin as previously, we decided to modernize and publish an electronic Bulletin. Those who do not have an e-mail address will continue to receive the Bulletin by mail. That will cut down a lot of our costs and paper use. With this transition to the electronic bulletin, we will be improving our website as well, we will soon have new colours; we’ll keep you posted.

The organisation of the Wine and Cheese was a great experience and helped me learn more about how our Association function. Danielle is a great organizer with good listening skills and the capacity to bring to fruition her projects. You’ll see, the Christmas Gala will also be a success.

When I learned the resignation of Suzanne Desbiens and of Isabela Abols, who have left their positions for personal reasons, I was sad. They still want to participate in our Association punctually. Hala El-Saadany has accepted the position of First Vice President and to take charge of the pension file along with her role as Bulletin editor. I’m convinced that she will do remarkable job. We do not have a replacement for the spousal employment committee. Interested?

All the volunteers that have helped us, did it with such kindness and professionalism, I was touched. It’s a great team and I’m happy to be part of it. In the next few months, my challenges will be to perfect the use of our pool of volunteers and to modify the website so it is user-friendly, interesting and beautiful! I’m here for you, call me or write to me, I’ll answer to the best of my knowledge.
