As you know, the Foreign Service Canadian Association (FSCA) and the Services Centre (SERV) created the Canadian Agora in 2003 in order to develop a data bank for spouses of the rotational federal government employees. The job bank is being used more and more and several spouses have obtained jobs through the Canadian Agora. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. SERV has therefore entrusted Snookie Lowmow with the task of marketing the Canadian Agora.
Snookie Lowmow contacted 30 embassies to acquaint them with the Canadian Agora. The response was very positive. Twenty-one embassies showed interest in posting jobs on the Agora. She also contacted 47 multinational companies who also manifested the same interest. Mrs. Lowmow demonstrated for them how the Agora works.
Some companies complained that some of the CVs were not up to date. CVs become dormant after 6 months if they are not updated. Check yours and update it regularly! (www.canadianagora.gc.ca). Some people even received a password but never posted their CV. It is important! The more companies and embassies that are satisfied with the service, the more jobs there will be and we will all benefit!
More over, the Agora will soon have a new look, more professional and easier to use. The Canadian Agora is a tool that will be more and more useful. Don’t hesitate to use it! We have a long way to go to reach our goals but it is a step forward.
